About Me

Dr. Michael Kim was born and raised in Toronto, ON.  He attended Queen’s University and obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honours), Bachelor of Education and Master of Science (Dept. of Biology) degrees.  Thereafter, he attended the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with Distinction in 2009. Following his DVM, he completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship at Colorado State University.  He successfully completed additional graduate courses in diagnostic imaging and small animal internal medicine.

Dr. Kim is also trained in performing ultrasound-guided aspirates, biopsies and with other interventional techniques along with veterinary endoscopy.

Dr. Kim has worked in several private practice specialty hospitals in the GTA and moved to Ottawa in 2014 to join the Alta Vista Animal Hospital whereby he became the Director of ICU.  His professional interests lie in diagnostic imaging, small animal internal medicine, emergency and critical care and pharmacology.

Outside of work, Dr. Kim spends quality time with his wife and daughter, plays beach volleyball, golfs, as well as, enjoys exploring various restaurants in the area.  His extended family includes three affectionate cats, Panda, Cheddar and Brie.
